Calmit is a company that has been producing precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) under the CALPREC brand for more than 40 years. With a fully integrated production process, the highest quality requirements are placed on the selection of the optimal raw materials from our quarries in order to produce a wide range of qualities that meet the highest quality standards.
Our production know-how, modern and efficient equipment, strict process controls and specific solutions for each  formulation make CALPREC the perfect partner for all our customers worldwide. Overall, the commitment to energy efficiency and sustainable production is a must in our long-term vision. Calmit's precipitated calcium carbonate products are offered as dry products and as slurry. We can differentiate between two main families of PCC: fine non-coated and ultrafine coated PCC.

Non-coated PCC: CALPREC PA

This is a fine precipitated calcium carbonate with scalenohedral morphology. Its particular shape, controlled particle size and narrow particle size distribution enable increased whiteness and opacity when it is used as a filler in paper. Calprec PA is also remarkably suitable for various applications in paint formulations. This functional filler is widely recognised as an efficient titanium dioxide extender providing exceptional hiding power (opacity), light scattering and high brightness. Due to its chemical purity and exceptional whiteness, the product meets the highest quality standards (FDA) and is therefore a perfect white pigment for food applications (E170) as well as cosmetics. Calprec PA is also recommended for reinforcing purposes in plastic formulations.

Coated PCC: CALPREC PR

Under this brand, customers can find a wide range of premium quality, surface-treated ultrafine precipitated calcium carbonates used as rheology modifiers in adhesives and sealants and ink formulations. The different grades of this family cover a wide range of rheological properties and different coating contents that make CALPREC PR the optimal selection for PVC plastisol-, MS polymer-, silicone- or polyurethane-based sealants.

Due to the narrow particle size distribution and engineered ultrafine particle size, it is also highly recommended for increasing reinforcement properties and impact strength, as well as improving the surface appearance in plastics.

The high quality and purity of Calmit’s precipitated calcium carbonate ensure a safe and efficient application process. Close coordination with customers and flexible delivery options guarantee that the products are optimally tailored to their requirements.
