Lime

Lime is a natural product obtained from limestone.

Thermal and mechanical processing produces versatile burnt lime products (calcium oxide – CaO) such as lump lime, fine lime and micronized lime, as well as slaked lime products such as hydrated lime (calcium hydroxide – Ca(OH)₂) – indispensable as industrial lime and for use in construction, agriculture and environmental protection.

Lime is a multi-talented material with numerous applications. In agriculture, it improves soil structure, regulates pH levels and promotes nutrient availability – for healthy plants and stable yields. In dry mortar, lime is an essential raw material for durable materials in the construction industry and contributes to CO₂ reduction. In environmental technology, it is used for flue gas cleaning and wastewater treatment. Lime neutralises acidic wastewater and improves water quality. Lime products (industrial lime) are also used in the paper, paint and plastics industries as functional fillers that increase surface quality and process stability.

A particular advantage is that Calmit sources its lime regionally from its own European deposits. This means short transport routes, high supply security and sustainable production. When lime is converted back into limestone, it absorbs CO₂ again and binds it permanently – up to 100% depending on the application.
