Hydrated lime

Hydrated lime, also known as calcium hydroxide or slaked lime from Calmit, is a high-quality slaked lime characterised by a very high degree of whiteness and immediate workability. It is produced by slaking quicklime with water, resulting in a fine, white powder with the chemical formula Ca(OH)₂. Hydrated lime is classified as CL 90-S white hydrated lime according to EN 459-1 and meets the highest quality standards.

Areas of application

In building construction, hydrated lime (slaked lime or lime putty) is used to produce mortar for bricklaying and plastering, as well as for painting. In civil engineering, it serves as a filler for asphalt and for soil stabilisation. In the environmental sector, calcium hydroxide is used in flue gas cleaning, water treatment and the neutralisation of acidic wastewater. In agriculture, hydrated lime is used as a fertiliser and disinfectant. The high reactivity and fine distribution of hydrated lime enable fast and efficient conversion in the respective processes. Hydrated lime is also used in the chemical industry as a starting material for various syntheses and as a pH regulator.
